Building an Environment (Process) 8

After all the work is done, we were ask to render our building model in different direction. This is the last step of this task and this is the result after the rendering process.

This week, we were ask to apply lighting effect to the building that we had modeled. I’m a bit confused about lighting effect because there were lots of lighting effect. So I decided to try all of them to give me more knowledge of it and what the difference between each of the effect.

For my model, I apply directional light which will apply light in one direction.

After applying colour, we need to bump map it. The purpose of bump mapping is to apply texture on the surface of the model. By applying texture on the surface will make the model more realistic.

For my model, I apply some images for my bump mapping.

For the door, table and chairs, I apply an image I wood and this is the effect:

For the walls, I apply an image of rough surface and this is the effect:

After finish modeling my building, I need to apply colour to it. Applying colour will not make the model plain. Apllying colour also will give a different mood to it.

For the glasses of the model building,I apply a blinn material to it. Then I play with the transparency so that it can be seen trough. To make it more like a glass, I put a bit of gray colour to it.

Building an Environment (Process) 4

For developing the model, I develop it by using the combination of polygon. For the building, it was  a lot of work but to me it was easy because of the knowledge that i gain from lesson in class. However, I had a hard time on making a grass field because I don’t know how. I search the internet on how to make grass field using Maya. It was easy and I just realize it. Thanks to that, I learn something new about Maya. My model may be simple and not very good but at  least I gain some knowledge. There’s a saying “Practice makes perfect”.

For the first process of building my model, I’ve made the main room first because it is the main room of the building.
 .
Second, I’ve made the entrance and a place for the balcony.

Third, I build the second floor, the stairs and the balcony.

Forth, I built the round room.

Lastly, I build the furniture. I also build bed, drawers, sofas and closets.

Building an Environment (Process) 3

After the tracing in Photoshop process, we need to transfer the image in Maya. The purpose of this process is to apply the tracing image as a guide for us to make it easier for us on modeling it in Maya.
This is how we transfer it:

First we need to save it as an image file.

Then, in Maya we need to clink on the image plane button to apply the image on the surface as a guide. Note that we need to only place the top view of the model.

Finally we can start creating the model using the guide that we apply

Building an Environment (Process) 2

After drawing sketches of the model, we were to trace it in Photoshop or Illustrator. The reason of doing this is to have a clearer view of the model and have the line straight. This will help us in developing it in Maya later.
This is the proses of making the top view of my model:

This is the result after tracing the sketch in Illustrator:

Introduction

Autodesk Maya

What is Autodesk Maya(Maya)?

Autodesk Maya is a 3D animation software application developed by Autodesk that enables professionals who work with animating film, television programs, visual effects, and video games to create highly professional 3D animations. On my personal view of Maya, it has most of the tools, components and features for creating good 3D animation. On my first time using Maya, I was confuse because there were lots of tool that I don’t know of its function. It takes lots of time and practice in order to be able to make animations using Maya.

Basic of Maya

Transformation tools

-Tranformationtools are for adjusting object quicker just by clicking the icon. These icon are the most use in Maya

Select tool
 - Just like the name, this tool is for selecting an object or multiple object.

Lasso tool
-  it also use to selecting object but by using lasso. This is more useful for selecting multiple object in an area.

Move tool
- For moving the selecting object in any direction

Rotate tool
- For rotating selected object in any direction

Scale tool
- Scaling  the selected object to make it smaller or bigger

Soft Modification tool
- Allows modification of the object with falloff

Show Manipulator tool
- Show the manipulator, allowing you to adjust construction history.

Maya Components

I did some research on Maya components. These are some of the component:

Fur
It is for large area coverage of short hairs and hair-like materials. It can be used to simulate short fur-like objects, such as grass. In contrast to Maya Hair, the Fur module makes no attempt to prevent hair-to-hair collisions.

nHair
it is capable of simulating forces acting on long hair and per-hair collisions.

nCloth
nCloth provides detailed control of cloth and material simulations.

nParticle

nParticle is for simulating a wide range of complex 3D effects, including liquids, clouds, smoke, spray, and dust.
